Considering there are 17 million people in the US who go hungry, why do people think hunger is impossible here?

Even one person going to bed at night with an empty belly is heart-breaking, but the American poor are the envy of the poor in 99% of the world. Watch one commercial for one of those "sponsor a child" organizations. And consider we spend more on welfare than Cuba does on absolutely everything combined. Hate capitalism if it helps you sleep at night, but I'd rather be poor here (and I am) than anywhere else on Earth, including your precious Cuba.
